An introduction to a new world

Previously, in a cryptic entry where I talked about dreams, I mentioned that I was creating something new, a web novel series based around dreams and the concept of an “isekai” story popularised by Japanese anime/manga/light novels.

This entry contains a small preview of the web novel series I’m working on titled, reverie of an ishvari. It is a piece of introduction text that acts much like the opening crawl to a Star Wars movie, setting the stage for the new world that I’ve been dreaming up the last few weeks.

While it’s going to take quite a long time for me to start releasing the actual chapters of this story, feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts on the premise outlined by this introductory text..

Enjoy…

イシュヴァリの夢想
reverie of an ishvari

Long, long ago, the noble elves sang stories of a goddess whom they loved most dearly. They sang of a goddess who showed them the beauty of the sky, a goddess who taught them the ways of the land, a goddess who travelled the realm to explore all of its majestic wonders, and to visit all of its great people.

Our elvish friends taught us in earnest, that whilst there are many tales of mere fiction, there is one indisputable fact in all the realm that must not be denied. For to deny it would be to deny reality itself.

The goddess dreamt a dream of creation, thus the realm came to be.

As we reflect on the words shared through song and story by our honoured elven brothers and sisters, our hearts are saddened to discover a much darker truth the elves do not sing and do not speak.

While they continued to tell tales of a goddess from days long past, we record a true history of a goddess who threw aside her people in an act of madness, a goddess that threatened to consume the very realm she created so long ago. From this, a second inalienable fact is born.

The goddess betrayed the realm, thus we must punish her for her sins.
