The road to Season 1 on twitch.tv

For a long time, I’ve been working to get my gaming PC upgraded and now that it’s finally happened, I am now in a position to do something that I’ve been wanting to do for even longer… get into Twitch streaming.

I’ve already posted quite a few videos on the site, most of which are old DOS games, from streams I’ve done over the past week and it’s been a lot of fun. However, this is only the beginning! I’m gearing up, both figuratively and literally for bigger and better things in the future.

Currently, I’m in, what I’m called “Season 0” of my twitch stream and I intend to start “Season 1” some time in early February. Right now, I’m currently streaming older games that don’t support an ultrawide resolution and simply getting use to the whole streaming concept. From working out how OBS works to figuring out all the little bugs and unexpected things that can happen during a stream.

To get to Season 1 and the true start of my twitch streaming, I’ll have to go through two stages:

Stage 1: Ascending to ultrawide

Old games are great, but I do want to play some more modern games as well. This is where a new GTX 1080 Ti and an ultrawide monitor comes in. By December, I’ll have the money to order in these two items along with a few other things to help me expand the selection of games that I can play on stream.

Stage 2: Improving sight and sound

This is where Season 1 will truly start, once I enact this second stage. By early February, I’ll have ordered and received the equipment to make my stream a hell of a lot more interesting. Among the things I’ll be getting is a decent webcam along with a professional microphone and other equipment.

When this stage is complete, I’ll officially start Season 1 where I’ll be playing modern games in ultrawide with a webcam every weekend. I can’t wait!

But why do this?

Because the amount of time I’ve spent on video games has dropped to almost zero as of late and I want an excuse to play more. If I, at least, play on the weekends, and make it an event for myself, then I’ll be able to go through my backlog of games and all those new games that have come out recently that I’ve been meaning to buy.

The reason I want to stream isn’t because I want to become like one of those famous twitch streamers, it’s more about just having fun and chatting with some people online while I play. With the loss of LucasForums, I haven’t really had all that much opportunity to talk with people that are a part of an online community, and I miss that.

There’s plenty of good people online, and this seems like a pretty good way of engaging with them.

So, with all that said, I hope things work out for me, in that I can gain an audience and have fun streaming all these great games I want to play… I’ve already made a list.
