So who has known about these alternate exclusive BGC 2040 artworks that were made only for the Japanese VHS rental releases back when it was being released in the late 90s? The commercial VHS release for it in Japan was spread across 13 volumes (just like the LD releases), while their VHS rental releases were condensed down to just 8 volumes. I think these were commissioned for the rental releases as to not to confuse Japanese buyers with its commercial release artworks due to the differing set amount of volumes made but who knows?

Here are scans for volumes 1 & 3-8 courtesy from Amazon Japan which I'll include the links for. They don't have scans for the 2nd volume for some reason but I'll also show a photo of the cover for it at the end of the post.

I just realised, some of the images on those VHS tapes seemed to be higher quality redraws of scenes from the actual show itself.

You know, I just realised that BGC 2040 and Parasite Dolls are the only series in the BGC-universe that didn't get any audio dramas/drama CDs made lol.

It's kinda sad to be honest given that even the A.D. Police TV series managed to get one made (albeit only through a Japanese DVD/LD mail-in campaign) :sneaky:

Sure would've been nice to hear more side stories made for BGC 2040. Maybe something like Mackie's back-story or the time Nigel used to work in Genom...or maybe a more fleshed out back-story on Sylia meeting Nene and Priss to form the new Knight Sabers after losing the previous two members.

Also, I've been looking through all of the BGC related media that I have on my home server... and I have a lot of it lol.

It'd take ages to post everything separately, so maybe some time soon, I'll gather it all up, put it into a zip file and just dump it on the net for people to download.

A lot of it may be low quality stuff, but I do know I have a lot of high quality stuff in there too.

So what is the drama cd about? According to this (page is in Japanese) site, it's a short 10 minute lighthearted comedy set somewhere between the seventh and eighth episode of the TV series. Kenji and Hans are somehow tricked into going to a hot spring party (most likely by Kyoko) held by the other girls in the TV series where hilarity ensues. Kenji doesn't like going to the hot springs since it makes him feel dizzy and can cause him to collapse lol. There's also one scene that is specifically described from that person on the site where Kenji and Hans "reduce friction" XD LOL.

Probably need to give it a listen again since it's been decades when I last heard it.

right, took me ages because, life and stuff, but, here is a small zip file i have made, it contains scans of the first 2 VHS tapes for BGC 2040, both the insides and outsides, 2 i did darken to fix the colour a little but otherwise it has the intact scans though the colour looks off, i suppose if i actually had a colour accurate monitor it would be easier but such is life, around 35MB for the zip, keep for archives:



Also if anyone has any BGC scans theyd like to contribute to an archive of sorts, if possible scan them at 1200dpi or 2400dpi or if you are really fancy 5000dpi and send them across as i do have an archive on my NAS unit and the higher the res the better, many thanks.
